My Why:  I started my Avon Business nearly 13 years ago to help in providing for my family without taking me away from them any more hours then I already was by working a part-time waitressing job. I was looking to make a little more money and had no idea what kind of income that Avon could actually offer to me. Avon quickly became a perfect fit for me and my family and after a few years of building my business and my team I was able to quit other part-time jobs and work Avon full time.   This was huge, giving me the flexible schedule that was so important to me so that I could be available to my children and my husband, attend all of their activities and work when and how I wanted to.  My "why" has changed through the years, my children are grown and now I look forward to building a better and earlier retirement for my husband and I. I have achieved many awards and incentives since beginning my business, a kuerig coffee maker, an apple ipad, gift cards and lots cash bonuses to name a few (one of the first cash bonuses that I was so proud of paid for my beautiful leather living room furniture that I still have)

CLEAN THOSE MAKE UP BRUSHES

Why is it important?  

My Very Dirty and Neglected Brushes 

Think about everything that collects on your brushes as you use them- make up of course, oil, dead skin cells and dust.  Dirty brushes can then attract bacteria.  Do we really want to be wiping all of that back onto our face or even transfer it into the make up we use? Cleaning them regularly helps both the brushes and our make up to last longer.  

How to clean your make up brushes:

Most recommendations seem to advise weekly cleanings, especially when using liquid make up and/or storing in the open. Clean no less then once a month!  Start by rinsing under warm water.  When I did this I was surprised that very little make up came off the brush.

Anew Clean Micellar Cleansing Water

Because I have it on hand, I like to use Avon's Anew Clean Micellar Cleansing Water to then clean my brushes.  I already trust it on my face, so feel confident using it on the brushes that will then be going on my face.  You could also use a mild baby shampoo.

Here you can see even though I barely saw anything come off of my brush when I rinsed it under warm water, the cleansing water worked quickly to begin removing all of the build up!  Yuck!

After cleansing and another thorough warm water rinse, gently squeeze in a paper towel to remove excess water.  It is important that through the cleaning process we do not hold the brushes up straight which could allow water to run into the brush handle and not be able to dry out completely.

When do we need new brushes?

• Replace if handles are broken or cracked
• Replace if you are noticing a lot of bristles coming out
• Replace if brushes are not coming clean
• Replace if the brush does not return to its intended shape
